How to make concrete?

Concrete is a hardened mixture of cement, water and aggregates. The amount and proportions of concrete components should produce a mixture of required consistence, intended concrete impermeability and strength. The tables presented in the standards give mortar specifications for 1 m3. Each component should be carefully weighed and/or measured as a change in mortar specifications might change concrete properties. The amount of sand added to the mixture is of great importance – it is accepted that it should make for at least 30 % of all aggregates by mass. The required consistence is obtained by using the right proportion of cement to water mass (the less cement, the leaner mixture) or carefully selected admixtures.
